EPS Suite Modernization
EPS Suite Modernization
Overview
eProductivity Software (EPS) is a company that specializes in transformational technology and dynamic workflow software systems for print and packaging industries. My team focuses on the modernization of the overall UX/UI of core EPS web-based product suite to create a cohesive experience across products.
Unfortunately, due to privacy reasons, I can’t show the bulk of my work that I do at EPS. Some of my everyday work includes collaborating with designers, PMs, and engineers on modernizing product workflows, gathering user data for persona based workflow, and updating the Sketch library with reusable UX components. Below are some high-level notes about my work and key learnings.
If you are interested in learning more about the work I do at EPS, please send me an email and I would be happy to chat more.
DETAILS
Role: UX/UI, web design, wireframing, prototyping, user research, user-flow, data analysis
Tools: Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Teams, Confluence, EnjoyHQ
Modernization of product suite
Work on several web-based products including job, shipping, and order-entry modules with a focus on simplifying the navigation system.
Maintain consistent interaction and design language across suites.
Convert legacy pages containing fragmented data spread across multiple views into a simplified, single UI with proper hierarchy for modern, intuitive use.
Design fully customizable UI features including dashboard and grid customization, user-based view, color mode, access management, etc. which are configured based on user role/position.
Add additional features to the newly created modernized applications including advanced search, inline search on grid, custom forms, and keyboard shortcuts. Success was measured through customer feedback.
Persona-Based Workflow Initiative
Lead and initiate a new persona-based user research process to create personas that will be shared across teams within EPS. This helps in understanding our users on a deeper level and to refine our workflows for a better customer experience.
Create a detailed framework of research plans, goals, benefits, and methods to educate product managers on this initiative.
Gather customer data through surveys, interviews, and design workshops.
Introduce and teach the team about using EnjoyHQ as a helpful research repository tool for all of our research plans, findings, data, and artifacts.
Create data analysis reports which are passed on to stakeholders within the company to update them on our findings.
Sketch Design System Library
Lead the creation of a new, organized Sketch library using Atomic Design which is used across all teams for a consistent design theme.
Maintain and add requested UX components to the Sketch library.
Make components resizable and responsive using Sketch Smart Layout properties.
Key Learnings
Curiosity is key to learning
I learned that asking questions is key to learning and growing. Asking “why” will help make sure to understand background context and ensuring you deliver the right thing for customers.
Make data-driven decisions
I believe in the importance of gathering data and feedback when trying to make informed decisions, and so I learned how to advocate for that in a workplace where that wasn’t the norm.
Time zone management
I learned to effectively collaborate with other cross-functional teams spread across around the world. Through the agile methodology, I was able to collaborate with these teams on numerous products in parallel.
